About Ellison Bay, WI
Ellison Bay was founded in 1866 by Johan Berndt Eliason, who came to America from Denmark. Close by is a breathtaking view of the Bay from the crest of Ellison Bluff in 174-acre Ellison Bluff Park. This 174-acre park offers one of the most breathtaking views in the county. A wooden walkway/observation deck leads safely to the edge of sheer, 100-foot limestone bluffs. For the more adventurous, an enclosed catwalk extends out over the bluff. Shady picnic area and cool breezes off the water add to the charm.
Nearby Newport State Park is Wisconsin’s only designated wilderness park. The park is 2.373 acres and offers 38.3 miles of hiking trails, swimming, fishing, cross country skiing and snow showshoeing. There is over 11 miles of scenic coastline, and an island lake (Europe Lake). The park has a visitor center and offers a naturalist program. There are 16 backpack only campsites, 13 of which can be reserved in advance. In the winter there are miles of groomed ski trails, as well as trails for the person who wants to snow shoe.

Ellison Bay is home to some of Door County’s most reconized artisans, including stoneware, pottery, leather and a variety of other hand crafted art. In “downtown” Ellison Bay you will find the critically acclaimed Savory Spoon Cooking School, housed in the original village schoolhouse built in 1879.
Ellison Bay boasts a beautiful public park, the Women’s Club Park, complete with a sandy beach, dock, playground, and the 2 most scenic tennis courts in Wisconsin. There is town marina with a boat dock, and Wills park, offering spectacular vistas of Ellison Bluff and sunsets over the waters of Green Bay.
